- Loopback is a utility for testing communications programs. It registers
- two new serial ports with the communications toolbox; what you write to one
- is read in from the other. It provides the usual status functions, and an
- emulation of baud rate, in multiples of 600 baud (so the available baud
- rates are 600, 1200, 1800, 2400, and so on).
-
- Loopback can be used either as a control panel or an extension. As an
- extension, it will load on startup. As a control panel, when you open
- loopback you will see a button; click it to install. If it fails to
- install (probably out of memory), you'll see either an alert (if you are
- using the control panel), or a crossed-out icon.
-
- Loopback is freeware: anyone may use it, for non-commercial purposes
- (that is, you can use it to test your commercial software, but you may
- not sell it or include it with something you are selling for a profit,
- without my permission).
